St. Peter Claver School is an African American Catholic school that provides a safe, resourceful environment devoted to developing the whole child. We embrace our heritage with a holistic approach that affirms our faith and strengthens our self-esteem. Our innovative academic programs stimulate intellectual, spiritual, social and physical growth. We also instill in our students a sense of responsibility to the local and global community.
St. Peter Claver School envisions a future that calls for growth, new programs and greater specialization and new sources of support. In this context, the school community shares a vision to ensure a safe and healthy environment for learning; offering program enrichment programs in study skill development and test taking for high school preparation; attaining a higher level of student proficiency in language arts and math, and reducing the number of students taking remedial courses at the high school level.
St. Peter Claver School offers pre-kindergarten, elementary and middle school education. Tuition and fees, and funds from St. Peter Claver Parish primarily support the school.
The school embraces the African American heritage with a holistic approach to education that affirms and strengthens self-esteem, stimulates intellectual development, and fosters spiritual growth in the Catholic tradition.
During the past fifteen years, the school has maintained near capacity enrollment and continues to receive academic accolades from the educational community of New Orleans.
Over the past 80 years, Saint Peter Claver has been a leading producer of outstanding students who have matriculated successfully to several of our city's most selective Catholic and public schools. Since the establishment of the National Merit and Achievement Scholarship Program for high school students in 1963, over one hundred of our graduates have been honored as semifinalists in their respective high schools.
